Comparison of performance between ceramic fiber board and calcium silicate board
The thermal shock resistance (i.e., the ability to withstand sudden cooling and heating) is a significant advantage of ceramic fiber boards, which can be repeatedly heated and cooled rapidly without cracking, and the product strength will not decrease.
Calcium silicate board is composed of granular materials, and its resistance to rapid cooling and heating is much lower than that of ceramic fiber board. Therefore, a certain amount of fibers must be added to enhance the calcium silicate board.
Digestive expansion and compression performance
Due to the toughness and strength characteristics of ceramic fiber board, when used as an insulation backing, it can timely absorb and digest the expansion force generated during the heating process of refractory bricks or refractory castables, avoiding phenomena such as cracks in the bricks or castables caused by stress. Moreover, the product strength and application effect are not damaged at all, which is incomparable to silica calcium boards.
Reuse performance
The reuse performance of ceramic fiber board is very strong, especially when repairing kiln walls. With a little attention, ceramic fiber board will not be damaged. However, due to the significant decrease in strength after firing and the fact that it is a brittle material, calcium silicate boards generally cannot be reused.
Transportation, storage, and construction
(1) Due to its high strength, toughness, strong resistance to collision, impact, and impact, and low fragility, ceramic fiberboard provides more convenience for products during transportation (especially loading and unloading vehicles), storage, and construction. Calcium silicate board is a brittle material that is prone to breakage or missing corners and edges, which not only causes product loss but also affects the effectiveness of use. Therefore, it is necessary to always pay attention during transportation, storage, and construction to avoid collisions.
(2) Due to the excellent waterproof performance of ceramic fiber board The simplest test is to keep the product in water for 24 hours without sinking, which brings great convenience to transportation, storage, and construction, especially in cloudy, rainy, and humid environments. Moreover, due to the waterproof performance of ceramic fiber board, waterproofing agents can be omitted during construction. Calcium silicate board is a material with strong water absorption, and waterproofing treatment must also be done during application and construction.
(3) During construction, ceramic fiber boards are easier to cut compared to calcium silicate boards, and there is less environmental pollution (dust).
